This seemed to be where the worst of the damage was, even through the makeshift dam. The waters had receded, but the damage of the flood was more than evident on the houses. There were a few people scattered about, children playing in the mud, adults murmuring to each other as they tried to repair what damage they could with what they had.

A little tired out from moving the trees aside, Diahjir joined the group going through the small path. He tried to keep his body language open, showing that he was there to help. He had picked up his medical gear again, and he hoped he looked enough like a medic so that those who saw him were not alarmed.

Depends what he's looking for. There wasn't any sort of official-looking person in sight, but there were a few injured folks on half-demolished porches.

Lt. JG. Saren tr'Lareth | SCI BOT 12-Sep-25 07:14 PM
With the path clear, Saren picked up half of what his cousin was carrying, and ended up somewhere in the front of the pack. While the medical officers began looking for people in need, he tried to spot a good site where to leave the supplies.

Diahjir walked over to a group of injured people on one of the porches, before he gestured to his medical kit. "Hello, I am sorry for barging in unannounced, but I am a medical professional, along with many of my colleagues. We are here to help." He offered in a gentle tone.

There was a little fire pit set up closer to the center. They needed dry wood for it to work as intended, but near that may be good. Someone with their arm in a sling, a Xindi-insectoid, chittered and clicked in relief. "Oh, thank the goddess. Are we glad to see you!" "We could've handled it ourselves, 'course," their colleague chimed in, antennae wiggling, "but it's still nice to know someone out there is looking out for us."
Avatar
Lt. Cdr. Diahjir Lan | MED BOT 12-Sep-25 07:23 PM
Diahjir smiled, noting the comment about the goddess, but not saying anything about it yet -- who was he to comment about the religions of those who he helped, after all! "Of course, but some assistance can go a long way," he responded as he unpacked his medical kit, setting up a makeshift station for the injured to come where he could treat them.

"We could have a group of people go deeper into the colony, and see what still needs to be done there?" Karavix dropped off what she'd been given at Saren's call. "That way we are spread out effectively." (edited)

Lt. Cdr. Eicran Kehal | MED BOT 12-Sep-25 07:35 PM
Following the lead of the senior staff, Eicran joined in with the treamtent of those injured. Admittedly he was a little preoccupied, mentally considering the circumstances surrounding this flood. The colony wasn't Federation, sure, but didn't they have the technology to control their weather systems or even patch themselves up after flooding if they couldn't control said weather? They were warp capable, otherwise the 777 crew wouldn't be there. They weren't far from 777 itself. Something just felt strange about their lack of capabilities - but he was probably just being a conspiracy theorist.

One of the children (a little Aurelian, by the looks of it) inched closer to the fire pit, examining what had been brought from afar with quiet curiosity.

Lt. Allan Allen | ENG BOT 12-Sep-25 07:42 PM
Allan had been carrying, alongside well, whatever the standard engineering pack was, a lot of the food supplies, and he went near the firepit with the others who were headed there. Spotting the child, he sat down a little bit away from them, taking the bag of supplies and digging through it. "You want any snacks?" He asked to the kid, but of course he'd offer snacks to anyone else who wanted, "I've got... let's see, I've got uhhh, apples, um... worms... marshmallows..." he took out the bags of the things he said after he said each word, "and I think this is like, jerky? There's other stuff too, I think.."

Victoria had unceremoniously plopped the bag of supplies she had lugged along with the rest of them by the fireplace, as directed. She paused to stretched her back, in appreciate the newfound lightness of her movements, and moved off past her colleagues - taking the suggestion to move further into the colony and deciding not to wait for proper orders - in search for anyone else who might've needed assistance that hadn't already been flagged.

Autumn walked over to the fire pit and swung the massive rucksack off of their shoulder, setting it down. They kneeled onto the ground to open it, and began to lift out device after device, each one making various beeps and blips accompanied by an equal show of blinking lights. "Alright, I got a plasma cutter for heavy debris, engineering tricorders for structural analysis, the communication uplink for better signal and portable heaters for both drying things out and keeping warm tonight." One might think that all that wouldn't fit into even a hiking backpack like the one Autumn had been carrying, but thank the stars that Starfleet technology was modular.

"Nuts? Oh, definitely, yeah, there's gotta be," he dug in the bag some more, taking out various other foods, before he found some little containers of, you guessed it, nuts. "I think this is like, the variety pack sort of thing? But if there's ones you don't like, you can just like, totally pick those out, nobody'll mind," he said with a small smile as he handed the container over to her.

Avatar
Lt. Allan Allen | ENG BOT 12-Sep-25 08:03 PM
"No prob," Allan said, before gathering with the other engineers and joining them in their little tools arrangement. Yeah, absolutely thankful that Starfleet tech was modular. Great improvements over the centuries without the hindrance of capitalism would do that, really. "Sounds like a plan," he said to Karavix, before going off to said rubble, inspecting it for signs of anyone caught in it or anything that may have been important personal belongings or the like.

Narrator BOT 12-Sep-25 08:06 PM
No sound of anyone underneath, but a proper scan would be the judge of that. Clearing some of the rubble revealed a banged-up silver locket — though the chain was now missing.

Lt. Syrax tr'Morvar | CMD BOT 12-Sep-25 08:48 PM
After leaving his baggage by the fireplace, he decided to join in on the rubble team - deeming himself a bit more useful in such activities, if it came to such. The glint of the locket caught his attention, and gingerly the Romulan picked it up, running the corner of his sleeve over it in an attempt to clean off at least the biggest dirt.

Rozamal’s cane lightly tapped against the ground as he looked around, taking a scanner out and using it to well, scan for any life signs.

No life signs. Do corpses come up on scanners?.. The locket was flower-shaped, falling open in Syrax's hand as he picked it up. The inscription was now too banged up to read properly, the photo within ruined.

“Bah, no life signs.” He grimly reported.

Lt. Syrax tr'Morvar | CMD BOT 12-Sep-25 09:19 PM
"Awh, it's too banged up, what a shame..." he muttered, turning the locket over and probably seeing an equal amounts of damage. Still, he looked around in blind hope of somehow spotting a person with a chain or someone looking for something.
Avatar
Lt. Allan Allen | ENG BOT 12-Sep-25 09:21 PM
"Hmm," Allan said as he looked over at Syrax and the locket, "iiiss that, actual silver..? If it is, we could always.." he thought for a moment, setting his scanner appropriately to do what he was about to say, "scan for silver. Might find the chain that way? It's a pretty unique metal, all things considered."

Ens. SILV3-R | ENG BOT 12-Sep-25 09:23 PM
Silver, meanwhile, had happily busied herself cleaning up rubble, hauling pieces that looked far, far too heavy for such a willowy person, but she carried them with ease. She went about it all with a sort of optimism and hope that she always had, still trying to distract herself from the devastation surrounding her. Her head shot up upon hearing the word silver, but she also saw the locket, realizing that they were probably not calling her name and were instead talking about the actual metal. “I can scan for the metal if you would like me to.” She said, putting the piece of rubble she was carrying down where it was supposed to go and coming closer to Allan and Syrax. Tarsek’s boots let out a wet sound with every step on the mud. There were enough officers already aiding with the rubble – and he had heard about the corpse, knowing for a fact that they were bound to find more – so he focused on the civilians around, noticing the kids playing. The flood might have receded, but the terrain was still dangerous. Someone could get stuck on the muddy terrain or get hurt by the unstable debris around. Kids would be particularly susceptible, and with the adults worried about fixing the damage they would be largely unsupervised. He decided to approach the young ones and observe their playing, ready to intervene if ant danger made itself present or if any of the kids decided to run off away from the group.

There is not need to be alarmed, I come to help.” The use of a simpler word than the usual “serve” was deliberate considering he was talking to kids.
